The Visualate app and its accompanying prototype headset introduces a new form of vision based therapy called ‘visualation’ that aims to promote focus and calm through administering stimuli to the peripheral vision together with:

  • low-stress interactive activities with rewards

  • music, both pre-selected and from users’ own music library

  • breathing exercises, with the optional breath sensor.

What is visualation?

Visualation promotes relaxed and focused mental states by stimulating the left and right peripheral visual field, in a sequence of incremental steps. Instructions and sometimes music are used throughout to guide users to deeper states of relaxation and presence through directing attention further away from a tight forward looking focus.

For those who spend large amounts of time sitting at a desk, with their vision tightly focused on a screen, it provides an ideal method for:

  • taking a quick screen break without needing to move around.

  • getting ready for a meeting or other event that requires a clear and focused mindset

  • calming the mind when it is preoccupied with thoughts

What are Visualators?

Visualators are small light-display units that can be plugged into compatible headphones.

Through displaying sequences of light patterns to our peripheral vision, Visualators exploit a useful shortcut in our brains that bypasses the thinking mind altogether, maximising focus on the present. With Visualators, your mind potentially undergoes a clean reset that breaks through the flow of thoughts, bringing you to a calm and attentive state much faster than you could otherwise achieve.
